Then come and join our global team as Global Lead for Climate Strategy & Governance (f/m/d)for defining, governing, and driving the company’s climate strategy and climate action agenda. The role owns the end-to-end framework for climate change mitigation and adaptation, including net zero strategy, target setting, roadmap development, implementation oversight, and achievement, as well as climate-related risk, resilience, and governance.

Operating from within the corporate sustainability function, the role ensures consistent, and credible implementation across all business areas, regions, and functions, in alignment with external standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance expectations.

Choose the best place for your work – Within the scope of this position, it is possible, in consultation with your manager, to work mobile (within Germany) up to an average volume of 60% of the respective working hours.

Even more flexibility? Mobile working from abroad is possible for up to 30 days a year under certain conditions and in selected countries.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You own and continuously develop the company’s global climate strategy and net‑zero framework, including targets, roadmaps, milestones, and performance tracking, aligned with recognized external standards.
  • You define and govern the climate action program across Scopes 1–3, translating strategy into clear implementation requirements, linking climate targets to business KPIs, and ensuring progress tracking and corrective actions.
  • You drive alignment between climate action, circularity, and sustainable design by collaborating with R&D, Procurement, Quality, and business teams, and by advancing climate‑related methodologies, data, and tools (e.g. product carbon footprints).
  • You lead the company’s approach to climate risk, adaptation, and resilience, including risk assessments, scenario analysis, and integration into enterprise risk management and strategic planning.
  • You establish robust climate governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements (e.g. CSRD/ESRS), audit‑ready climate data and disclosures, and proactive monitoring of regulatory and standards developments.
  • You translate climate strategy into customer and stakeholder value, supporting customer requirements, tenders, and external climate‑related inquiries.
  • You represent the company externally on climate topics in industry initiatives and engagements with investors, customers, and media.
  • You build, lead, and develop a high‑performing climate team and foster strong cross‑functional collaboration.

Your qualifications and experience:

  • You have a university degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Public Policy, or a related field; additional qualifications in climate, energy, or ESG are an advantage.
  • You have many years of professional experience leading climate strategy and climate action in a large, mature organization, with demonstrated accountability for net zero or science-based targets, roadmaps, and delivery.
  • You have deep technical expertise in climate change mitigation, including Greenhouse Gas accounting (Scope 1, 2, and 3), SBTi and Net Zero standards, and the translation of targets into credible implementation pathways.
  • You have a strong understanding of climate-related risk and resilience, including governance and regulation expectations (e.g. CSRD/ESRS, TCFD-aligned disclosures, jurisdiction-specific climate regulation), with experience engaging external and internal auditors.
  • You have a very good understanding of sustainable design, lifecycle thinking, and climate‑related data and tool landscapes, including the challenges of scaling robust, decision‑relevant carbon data (e.g. product carbon footprints).
  • You have a proven track record of implementation in a matrixed environment, working closely with and across functions such as Procurement, Real Estate, EHS, Finance, Risk, and R&D to translate strategy into action.
  • You are an experienced people and program leader, able to build and lead high-performing teams, manage complex cross-functional initiatives, and deliver consistent results. Prior people management experience is a plus.

    Your attributes and skills:

    • You have fluent English language skills (verbal & written)
    • You are a strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset, comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing ambition with feasibility, and connecting climate strategy with operational and business realities.
    • You have excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders, prepare high‑quality materials for senior management, and engage confidently with customers, investors, media, and other external stakeholders.
    • You have the ability to build and leverage a strong internal and external network across functions, regions, and key stakeholders to drive alignment, collaboration, and impact.
