We are seeking a skilled and experienced Hybrid Virtualization Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both on-premises and Cloud virtualization platforms such as Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI), Proxmox, Nutanix and VMware technologies. This role is responsible for the deployment, configuration, management, and lifecycle maintenance of virtualization platforms. This role will also be responsible to handle day-to-day operational tasks, including incident management, service requests, and change requests using ServiceNow.

Note:  Because the role is required to support virtualization operations in Americas region, the candidate must be able to work from 8AM – 5 PM US Eastern Standard Time.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms including:
    • Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI)
    • Proxmox
    • VMware vSphere/vCenter/ESXi/NSX/vSAN
    • Nutanix (Optional)
  • Perform regular platform maintenance: software updates, patching, upgrades, and backups.
  • Monitor the health and performance of virtualization environments and proactively address potential issues.
  • Manage incident, request, and change tickets in ServiceNow in alignment with ITIL best practices.
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and availability, including DR and HA configurations.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud, network, storage, security, and application teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support planned and emergency maintenance windows.
  • Plan and maintain the User Stories and tasks in Azure DevOps

Your qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in virtualization engineering or a similar infrastructure role.
  • Experience managing on-premises and cloud virtualization technologies:
    • Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI)
    • Proxmox
    • VMware vSphere/vCenter/ESXi/NSX/vSAN
    • Nutanix (Optional)
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and working in ticket-based support models.
  • Strong scripting and automation background (PowerShell, Bash, Ansible).
  • Good understanding of networking, storage, backup, disaster recovery, patching, and monitoring in virtualized and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Certifications in virtualization technologies from Microsoft, VMware, are considered a plus.
  • ITIL Foundation certification – for understanding ITSM practices (preferred).

Your technical skills:

  • Strong expertise in VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, NSX and vMotion.
  • Hands-on experience with Proxmox – deployment, configuration and workload migration.
  • Proficiency in deploying and managing Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI) clusters, software-defined networking/storage, and updates via Azure Arc.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery tools such as Commvault, Azure Backup, and VMware Update Manager.
  • Skilled in monitoring and performance tuning using tools like vRealize Operations, Azure Monitor and Dynatrace.
  • Proficient in automation and scripting using PowerShell (including PowerCLI), Bash, Ansible, and working with YAML/JSON.
  • Strong understanding of networking and storage concepts including VLANs, virtual switches, iSCSI, NFS, and hybrid connectivity (e.g., ExpressRoute).
  • Experience implementing security and compliance controls, including RBAC, patching, hardened templates, and network security policies.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments, including Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure IAM, and Azure Arc.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and provisioning tools such as Terraform and ARM templates.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow for handling incidents, requests, and changes aligned with ITIL processes.

Then join our “Graph & Ontology Platforms" team as a Lead Solution Architect!

The “Graph & Ontology Platform" is a central IT service within Siemens Healthineers that provides a platform for data and non-data scientists in our Business Units to analyze and learn from their data utilizing the power of graphs and semantic engineering.

Our goal is to enable diverse use cases across all of Siemens Healthineers regardless of whether they utilize graphs for visualization, analytics, backends or as input for AI Systems.

As part of the Center of Excellence for Data and AI, you will design and drive the implementation of the solution architecture for the Ontology platform, an upcoming extension to the Graph Ecosystem at Siemens Healthineers.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design and build up the solution architecture of the new Ontology Platform within Siemens Healthineers
  • Improve and extend the solution architecture of the existing Graph Platform based on Neo4j
  • Design and document comprehensive solution architectures, including context diagrams, data flows, interface specifications, and deployment views in alignment with system requirements
  • Define and oversee the implementation of API specifications, data integration, and federation concepts
  • Create and align implementation roadmaps, ensuring the timely and effective realization of architecture plans and milestones
  • Establish and enforce architectural frameworks for data access, materialization versus virtualization, user roles, automation, logging, monitoring, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Lead cross-system integration efforts, coordinating with tool-specific experts and use case teams to ensure seamless collaboration and technical consistency
  • Support service architecture planning and operational concepts, working closely with service owners, domain experts, managers and vendors
  • Guide and support development teams in building system components, such as data connectors and integration solutions for various enterprise platforms (e.g., Teamcenter, Polarion, Snowflake, SAP)
  • Conduct proof-of-concepts, performance tests, scalability assessments, and data migration activities
  • Define governance structures and support organizational setup, enabling effective use case implementation
  • Support in the creation of solution architectures for graph use cases distributed over different business areas and domains
  • Ensure and extend platform capability to implement above mentioned use case architecture

Your qualifications and experience:

  • You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • You do not have a degree? Applications with vocational training in combination with additional qualifications and many years of professional experience in this field are also welcome
  • You have many years of relevant experience as an IT Solution Architect
  • You possess knowledge of graph database technologies & standards such as Cypher, OWL, RDF, and SPARQL
  • You have experience with platforms such as Neo4j, Metaphactory, or Cambridge Semantics
  • You have experience working with RDF and/or Property Graph Databases
  • You are familiar with security standards, compliance frameworks, and data privacy regulations
  • You can design scalable, high-performance graph-based solutions
  • You are knowledgeable about data integration pipeline tools, including SnapLogic
  • You have experience creating comprehensive and well-reasoned Architecture Decision Records (ADR)
  • You have experience in designing and implementing data federation across distributed data sources
  • You have experience designing and implementing platform architecture in the Azure Ecosystem, including Microsoft Entra ID
  • You have experience with Snowflake (preferred)
  • You have worked with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and business stakeholders and vendors
  • You have experience of integrating AI systems into existing architecture (Agentic Systems, RAG Systems)
  • You communicate status, progress, and risks clearly and effectively

Your attributes and skills:

  • You enjoy working in an international team with colleagues from Europe, Americas and Asia and speak fluent English. German and other languages are an advantage
