Facilities Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Bicester Innovation & Manufacturing Facility

At Siemens Healthineers, we pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare. For Everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do, combining curiosity, collaboration and technical excellence to create meaningful impact for patients worldwide. As we continue to invest in our UK footprint, our brand‑new £250m Bicester innovation and manufacturing facility represents a significant step forward in how we design, build and support advanced medical technology.

We are now creating a new Facilities Engineer (Mechanical) role to help shape, operate and maintain the mechanical infrastructure of this state‑of‑the‑art site, supporting a safe, efficient and resilient working environment from day one.

About the role:

This is a varied, hands‑on role that combines planned maintenance, installation activities, contractor management and general facilities support across a modern manufacturing environment. You will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, compliance and performance of mechanical systems across the facility, while working closely with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
The role includes an on‑call rota, requiring prompt and effective response to emergency breakdowns or critical maintenance issues outside of standard working hours. You will balance first‑response activities with the coordination of specialist contractors for larger planned works, using sound judgement and strong prioritisation skills.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out daily servicing of mechanical infrastructure, including fault finding, plant adjustments, inspections and contract‑compliant maintenance on M&E systems
  • Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive tasks and extra works in line with SLAs, engineering standards, HASAWA and company procedures
  • Supporting the design, review and implementation of new or modified mechanical systems in collaboration with project teams and business functions
  • Monitoring building systems and utilities via the Building Management System (BMS) and other control platforms, identifying trends, issues and failures
  • Responding to system or utility failures, investigating root cause and implementing safe, effective remedial actions to restore operation quickly
  • Using the CMMS to manage scheduled maintenance, record remedial works and provide accurate data to support KPI reporting
  • Acting as a first point of contact for colleagues experiencing workplace environmental issues, covering both hard services and soft services such as catering, security, cleaning and waste
  • Attending meetings with user groups to understand requirements related to the working environment or process equipment support
  • Managing critical and non‑critical spare parts to minimise downtime of building systems
  • Coordinating facilities activities with stakeholders to minimise disruption to operations and colleagues
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, performance and efficiency through analysis of operational data
  • Ensuring preventative maintenance programmes are delivered using a mix of internal resources and expert contractors
  • Raising permits and overseeing contractor works within your area of responsibility
  • Managing procurement activities, from raising purchase orders through to work acceptance and invoice approval
  • Supporting other engineering disciplines when required, including electrical, fabric and process engineering activities

What skills and experience you’ll bring:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with BMS and monitoring building systems
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance relating to HVAC and water treatment, including L8 Legionella awareness and control
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical and HVAC systems, including chilled water systems, air source heat pumps, fan coil units, air handling units, pumps, motors and pressurisation units
  • Awareness of building, health and safety, and life safety regulations
  • Proven fault‑finding and problem‑solving experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a wider facilities and support team
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Working knowledge of IT systems and CMMS platforms, with the ability to present basic information clearly
  • A flexible mindset, with willingness to support tasks outside your core mechanical discipline when required
  • Openness to ongoing learning and undertaking further training as the role and facility continue to evolve

What’s on offer

  • Competitive base salary + on call allowance (on call 1 week in 4)
  • 26 days annual leave, with the option to buy up to 10 days and sell up to 5
  • Up to 10% matched pension contributions
  • BUPA Private Medical Insurance
  • Bonus and Share Save Scheme
  • Free‑to‑use on‑site gym
  • Two paid volunteering days each year
