Job Description Summary
Successful candidate will be responsible for coordination of all aspects of Varian product installations and upgrades in Southern and Eastern Africa region. This includes interaction with international cross-functional teams to coordinate project execution including site preparations at customer site. Project management skills and strong technical background is required to manage competing interests.
This is an office-based role, located in Midrand, South Africa.
Core responsibilities: But not limited to:
· Plan, coordinate and supervise project preparation and advise customer and contractors for the installation of Varian linear accelerators and its software products.
· Meet with customers/customers contractors, perform site visits, help the customer prepare their facility for a successful and efficient installation.
· Advise customers on complex facility requirements such as safety requirements, room layout and electrical, plumbing and HVAC requirements.
· Actively support customer for implementation of pre-defined software product concepts. This includes but is not limited to active directory and domain requirements, IT security, power and network requirements, network layout, and server requirements.
· Monitor customer facility preparation, identify risks and coordinate equipment shipment schedules to ensure timely and effective installation and commissioning of equipment.
· Provide reports indicating installation activities including tight control of installation forecast.
· Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple medium scale projects.
· Perform routine project management and site planning to ensure customer compliance with building and technical requirements, both Varian’s and local municipalities, for equipment installations.
· Review bids from building and rigging contractors and monitor contracts for quality and workmanship.
· Extensive interaction with Sales, Order Processing, Installations resource managers and customers' teams.
· Contribute to MEA revenue realization by ensuring timely conversion of backlog into receivables.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related discipline e.g. electrical, mechanical engineering or related field and 3-5 years’ experience in related field.
· PMI certification is desired.
· Must have a general knowledge of construction and electrical codes.
· Must have a general knowledge of network design, software controls systems, and server management.
· Proactive attitude with excellent organizational skills and team oriented.
· Must have strong customer service acumen.
· Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
· Familiar with business tools such as: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and MS Project.
· Willingness to travel for business as required: 20-40%.
· Contributes to team efficiency through the quality of personal work and by influencing teammate output to required standards.
· Able to work independently within guidelines and policies and adhere to the corporate policies and procedures.
· Capable of managing their own workload.
· Agile with being pro-active, analytical, results-oriented, and able to make decisions within the scope of their role.
