We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our local team in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs on Proton Therapy system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, control system, and software-related issues.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions to minimize system downtime.
- Complete Service Technical Bulletins, system upgrades, and assigned technical tasks within required timelines.
- Follow all radiation safety, electrical safety, and site safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain a high level of professional knowledge and safety awareness in accordance with VMS guidelines to ensure safe working conditions.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer documentation standards.
- Provide technical support to customers and clinical staff while maintaining clear, professional communication regarding service activities, system status, and technical recommendations.
- Prepare concise and accurate field service reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, spare parts usage, and system performance data.
- Become proficient in internal software tools and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Salesforce, Siemens PLC GUI, and Varian Treatment Control applications.
- Complete all mandatory training assignments, certifications, and compliance requirements on time to maintain regulatory and operational readiness.
- Support additional field service site responsibilities as required, including roles such as Site Safety Coordinator, Spare Parts Inventory Controller, Radiation Safety Coordinator, Calibration Tools Responsible, Mechanical Tools Responsible, and other site equipment and compliance functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience in medical equipment, particle therapy, radiotherapy or industrial automation systems preferred.
- Knowledge of PLCs, control systems, electrical systems, networking and industrial equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals.
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in the use of the following tools:
- Mechanical: Torque wrenches; Precision gauges and levels; Vernier calipers, micrometers and scales; Drills, saws, taps and dies; Lubrication and adhesives tools
- Electrical: Digital multimeter, oscilloscope, circuit/component tooling; Soldering equipment
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel and support site activities as required.
- English proficiency required; working knowledge of Kazakh and/or Russian required for daily customer interaction.
Proton Therapy Systems utilize the following subsystems:
- High Vacuum Systems
- Cryogenics and Superconducting Magnets
- High-voltage AC and DC systems
- RF Power Delivery Systems
- X-ray and Computed Tomography systems
- Industrial Robotics and Motion Control
- Industrial PLC Control Systems
- Radiation Dosimetry Systems
Note: Candidate must live within close proximity or be willing to relocate to Astana, Kazakhstan. This is an on-site position that requires onsite work at local customer location.
Shift: Position requires availability to work in a rotating shift schedule, depending on operational needs.
- Rotating site shifts include:
- Morning Shift (8 hours)
- Afternoon Shift (8 hours)
- Night Shift (8 hours), typically 5 consecutive working days per month, which may include weekends depending on the shift schedule.
- Weekend coverage may be required as part of operational and on-call support needs.
- Shift rotation and on-call coverage may vary based on site requirements.
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
