Then come and join our global team as Clinical AI Research Radiologist (f/m/d) to contribute your clinical expertise in thoracic imaging and help build the next generation of AI solutions for radiology.
Choose the best place for your work – Within the scope of this position, it is possible, in consultation with your manager, to work mobile (within Germany) up to an average volume of 60% of the respective working hours.
Even more flexibility? Mobile working from abroad is possible for up to 30 days a year under certain conditions and in selected countries.
This position is full-time or part-time with a minimum of 30h/week.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- You contribute your clinical expertise in thoracic imaging to help shape the requirements for AI solutions in medical imaging applications.
- You define clinically relevant imaging findings, diagnostic criteria, and reporting standards for AI systems, and work together with AI scientists and engineers to translate clinical requirements into algorithm specifications.
- You review and curate imaging datasets for the training, validation, and testing of AI systems.
- You annotate and validate imaging findings, including pulmonary nodules, lung cancer, interstitial lung diseases, emphysema, pulmonary embolisms, and other thoracic pathologies.
- You support the development of clinical ground-truth datasets and annotation guidelines.
- You evaluate the results of AI algorithms and contribute to performance benchmarking against radiological standards.
- You participate in clinical validation studies as well as retrospective and prospective evaluations of AI tools.
- You support the definition of clinical performance metrics such as sensitivity, specificity, ROC curves, and reader study protocols, and contribute to collaboration with academic and clinical partner institutions.
- You contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, and internal research initiatives in the field of AI in thoracic imaging.

Your qualifications and experience:
- You have completed a degree in human medicine and have completed specialist medical training with a specialization in radiology, board certified in the EU.
- You have many years of professional experience in reading thoracic CT scans and diagnosing thoracic diseases; ideally, you also have experience with lung cancer screening programs and AI-supported reading workflows.
- You have an interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and clinical data science; experience in research, clinical studies, or handling imaging datasets is an advantage.
- Ideally, you are familiar with radiological reporting standards and structured reporting, and you have experience contributing to clinical validation studies or regulatory submissions.
- Preferably, you can demonstrate a scientific publication record in thoracic imaging or AI in radiology.
- Experience in image data annotation or dataset curation, as well as collaboration with AI development teams or medical imaging software companies, is desirable.
Your attributes and skills:
- You are fluent in English for business negotiations and have very good German language skills.
- You have strong communication skills and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams.
- You stand out with good presentation skills and are passionate and enthusiastic about contributing to innovations at Siemens Healthineers.
- You are willing to travel occasionally for business purposes (10%).
