Report to: Head of Legal & Compliance JP

Purpose:

1.  This role is to supervise Japan legal function and team to provide timely and accurate expert legal service and advice to all Siemens Healthineers business and entities in Japan, for the purpose of supporting business transactions & opportunities, and mitigating legal risks related to them. This role is essential in ensuring that all legal matters are handled with the highest level of professionalism and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations

2.  Play the leading role in coordination and implementation regarding global legal guidance, instructions and related internal rules and processes. 

Role Description:

1. Ensure that the legal function effectively supports all business units and common functions by leading the legal team to provide expert legal advice, oversee drafting and review of legal documents, and guide negotiations as appropriate.　

2. Establish and coordinate comprehensive organizational responses for internal investigation matters, in collaboration with relevant divisions, by completing internal investigations and aligning recurrence prevention measures, ensuring consistency with corporate policies and risk management principles.　

3.Foster organization-wide understanding and consistent application of laws and regulations from a legal perspective by directing legal training programs, disseminating updates, and embedding best practices for legal compliance. 

4. Enable informed and risk-managed decision-making across business areas, business line heads, HR, and Quality teams by providing strategic legal perspectives and guidance on complex legal and compliance matters. 

5.Ensure strategically aligned and defensible legal responses to litigation and judicial proceedings related to SHS Japan businesses, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counsel.　

6.Optimize the use of external counsel and professional advisors to achieve effective, efficient, and risk-aligned outcomes for the company. 

7.Provide proactive strategic support to the Head of Japan Legal & Compliance on company-wide legal, compliance, management, and corporate governance matters, ensuring informed and timely decision-making. 

8.Build and sustain a high-performing, resilient legal team with a strong culture of compliance and legal excellence through mentoring, guidance, and leadership development.

Authority／Responsibility:

・ to provide expert legal advice and recommendation to the Business Lines and managers.

・ to ensure to mitigate legal and compliance risks in legal documents.

・ to manage and lead legal proceedings, including litigation cases and disputes resolution (including labor related ones).

・ to authorize legal documents and legally related actions

Job requisition:

<Must have>

• License of lawyer in Japan
• 7+ years of professional experience in corporate inhouse lawyer's practice
• Solid knowledge and practical experience in corporate law, commercial law, and general business legal matters gained as a senior in-house counsel.
• Strong people management of legal professionals / paralegals / administrative staffs and organizational leadership skills
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to serve as a trusted business partner and collaborate effectively with senior management, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Language:

　　Japanese【Native level】

　　English【Business level】Effectively negotiate and discuss business matters and persuade listeners

<Nice to have>

• Industry experience in Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Finance, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience working in a multinational organization and collaborating with global legal and compliance teams.
