The Facilities Engineer (Electrical) role is a newly created position to support the electrical infrastructure within our new Bicester facility, and will combine planned maintenance, installation work, contractor management and general facilities support.  It will be a varied and hands on position requiring resilience, flexibility and strong prioritisation skills.  It also includes on call responsibilities requiring you to respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or critical maintenance issues outside of standard working hours.  You'll achieve this through a mixture of direct work for first response and support and will utilize use of contractors for larger planned works. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all facility works are carried out and recorded by themselves or contractors under their supervision to BS7671, alongside health and safety best practice guidelines.
  • System Design and Implementation: Assist business function requirements alongside project team with the Design, review, and implementation of electrical systems and infrastructure. 
  • Monitor all building systems and utilities using BMS (Building Management Systems) and other control systems.  Identify any issues or failures.
  • Respond to any building system or utilities issues or failure investigate and identify remedial actions to return the plant / equipment to an efficient operating condition in the shortest time using appropriate skills / knowledge and ensuring compliance and safety requirements are met.
  • Use the CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to carry out regular scheduled preventative maintenance activities and record any remedial work whether generated from PM’s or from issues / faults on the system.
  • Accurately record works completed in the CMMS to provide base data for KPI reporting.
  • Be the first point of contract for employees with working environmental issues, covering hard building or soft contract service (catering, security, clean, waste etc.) Investigate any concerns, identify and implement remedial actions.
  • Attend meetings to understand works required of user groups, be that related to the working environment or the provision of services to process equipment.
  • Maintain critical and other spare inventory levels to ensure minimal building systems downtime.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure any facilities work is achieved with minimum disruption to the operations and colleagues in the facility.
  • Identify opportunities through the analysis of the current operational performance to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs are carried out using internal resources and external expert contractors to ensure best in class reliability.
  • Raise permits for contractor works under the facilities engineer’s control.
  • Responsible for the procurement process from raising orders for contractor services or parts through acceptance and invoice approval.

Requirements for the role:

  • Ideally apprentice trained to at least City and Guilds 2365 NVQ level 3
  • City and Guilds 2382 18th edition trained
  • City and Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and test desirable
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of electrical systems CCTV, access control, life safety systems , electrical circuits up to 415 volts building and safety regulations.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to evaluate facility conditions, identify issues and develop effective solutions
  • Ability to work alone and with the wider facilities team and support services.
  • Ability to liaise at all levels of the organization to co-ordinate the facilities works.
  • A proven track record in engineering and fault finding gained in a manufacturing environment/industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of IT and CMMS systems with the ability to present basic concepts.
  • Be able to undertake tasks not normally associated with electrical duties I.E assisting mechanical/fabric/process engineers and the maintenance department as and when required
  • Be willing to undertake further training as required.
