Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Software Engineering Intern Trainee to join our engineering team developing a cloud-based oncology SaaS platform deployed on AWS. The platform is used by cancer patients, clinicians, and healthcare providers and operates in a regulated healthcare environment.

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle, including frontend development, backend development, cloud technologies, testing, DevOps, and Agile software delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to real product features while developing technical and professional skills.

The product is Siemens Healthineers´s cloud-based software solution for patient relationships and care navigation management. It’s designed to connect cancer patients with their clinics online throughout the entire cancer journey. The product used by 35 000+ active cancer patients and healthcare professionals from leading oncology centers in North America and Europe.  The candidate in this role will provide strong product development leadership to a team of software engineers and test engineers, working in an agile/scrum environment.

Job Description
Position Duties:
  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining software features and automation tests under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Learn and utilize approved AI-assisted software development tools to improve coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and development productivity.
  • Contribute to frontend, backend, and API development activities.
  • Participate in code reviews and learn software engineering best practices.
  • Create and execute test cases for web, mobile, and API functionality.
  • Gain exposure to AWS cloud technologies and SaaS application architecture.
  • Support deployment and CI/CD activities using GitLab.
  • Learn monitoring and observability practices using Splunk, Dynatrace, and Pendo.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and operational support activities.
Qualifications Required: BE, MSc, MCA, Computer Science or related discipline.

Number of year’s related experience: 0-1 year 

Special Knowledge / Skills: 
Required:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of programming concepts and software development principles.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Kotlin.
  • Interest in cloud technologies, software engineering, and healthcare technology.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and modern software engineering practices.
Nice to have:
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools through coursework, personal projects, or internships.
