Laboratory Automation IT Specialist

Location: Norway | Hybrid / Field-based

Do you want to work at the intersection of enterprise IT, automation, and healthcare, solving complex real‑world problems that directly impact patient care?

At Siemens Healthineers, we pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere.
To do that, we need strong IT professionals who can design, implement, and support mission‑critical laboratory automation systems in complex customer environments.

We are now looking for a Laboratory Automation IT Specialist to join our Northwest Europe Customer Services Automation IT Team, supporting customers across Norway.

Important to know upfront

This is not a laboratory scientist or bench-based role. This is an IT‑focused position working with:

·         IT infrastructure

·         Networks

·         Databases

·         Operating systems

·         Interfaces and integrations
—all within a regulated healthcare environment.

The Role – What you’ll actually be doing

As a Laboratory Automation IT Specialist, you will act as the technical IT expert for Siemens Healthineers’ laboratory automation and diagnostics IT solutions.

You will:

·         Implement, configure, and support automation IT systems in live laboratory environments

·         Provide 1st and 2nd level IT support, both remotely and on customer sites

·         Troubleshoot complex IT issues involving:

o    Networks and connectivity

o    Linux and Windows systems

o    SQL databases

o    Interfaces to LIS / middleware / third-party systems

·         Support customers during go‑live phases, where rapid technical problem‑solving is critical

·         Design and validate IT infrastructure and network setups in line with Siemens Healthineers standards and customer security policies

·         Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in the field

·         Assess customer readiness from an IT and cybersecurity perspective (network segmentation, access, interfaces, data flow)

·         Work directly with:

o    Hospital IT departments

o    LIS vendors and middleware providers

o    Laboratory managers and automation specialists

·         Deliver technical training to customers and internal stakeholders

·         Support pre‑sales activities with technical input, demos, and feasibility assessments

This is a hybrid, field‑based role, combining remote support with on‑site customer work across Norway (approx. 30% travel).

What we’re looking for

You are likely to be successful if you have a strong IT foundation and enjoy working in complex environments.

Essential:

·         Education in IT, Informatics, Computer Science, Medical Informatics, or similar

·         Hands‑on experience with:

o    IT infrastructure and networking

o    Linux (Red Hat) and Microsoft operating systems

o    SQL databases (MySQL, MS SQL)

·         Ability to troubleshoot system‑level and integration issues, not just applications

·         Comfortable working directly with customers and IT stakeholders

·         Fluent in Norwegian, with strong English communication skills

·         Willingness to travel and work in customer environments

·         Valid driver’s license

Strong advantage:

·         Experience with:

o    Healthcare IT, LIS, middleware, or regulated environments

o    Automation systems or industrial IT

o    Scripting or automation (Python, Bash)

o    Cloud technologies

·         Background with Siemens Healthineers Diagnostics IT and/or Inpeco Automation

What we offer

·         A technically challenging IT role with real‑world impact on patient diagnostics

·         Exposure to complex enterprise IT environments in healthcare

·         Strong collaboration across IT, automation, and clinical domains

·         A flexible, hybrid working model

·         Continuous learning and professional development in a global organization

At Siemens Healthineers, we value diversity and different perspectives. You are encouraged to be yourself and bring your full potential to work
