Then come and join our Malaysia team as Strategic Buyer within the Centre of Competence (COC), and you will be responsible to support procurement specialists in procurement activities like preparing Request for Proposals, compilation of quotations, support in negotiations and preparation of quotation summary, driving commodity management related topic under the COC team for the APJ (Asia Pacific and Japan) in future AMEA middle east and Africa Zone.

Key roles cover VARIAN activities in sourcing activities, spend analysis, Data base correction, preparing commodity strategy master, and contract administration. The role will contribute to VARIAN vendor Onboarding in Jaggaer tool, procurement spend analysis, compliance monitoring, and supporting Varian team for projects related requirements.

Your Role:
  • Support role to COC team and AMEA Procurement Head in spend analysis using Qlik Sense and other reporting tools, identify sourcing opportunities, prepare RFIs/RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, and develop negotiation strategies based on market intelligence and regional benchmarking.
  • You will be responsible to execute sourcing activities to identify suppliers that deliver the optimum balance of cost, quality, delivery, service, and technical capability in line with business requirements.
  • You will be responsible to support the Varian business with project-related procurement requirements by coordinating with Local Buyers (LBV), Supplier Quality Management (SQM), and cross-functional stakeholders, while securing competitive alternative quotations.
  • You will be responsible to monitor, track, and report monthly OPW savings and productivity measures, including Planned versus Actual performance.
  • You will be responsible to foster strong relationships with internal customers (requisitioners) to ensure proactive engagement, customer focus, and early procurement involvement.
  • You will be responsible to support new supplier identification, vendor development, and supplier registration activities, while liaising with Legal and Compliance teams on contract-related matters.
  • You will be responsible to ensure supplier onboarding documentation, certifications, and accreditation requirements are completed in accordance with procurement, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
  • You will be responsible to conduct retrospectives spend and purchasing analyses to identify gaps in contract coverage and recommend mitigation and sourcing improvement strategies.
  • You will be responsible to act as a quality gate for supplier onboarding through Jaggaer Direct, ensuring compliance with procurement, quality, cybersecurity, data privacy, and supplier governance requirements while supporting supply base optimization.
  • You will be responsible to support commodity management activities through market intelligence, supplier benchmarking, spend analytics, commodity strategy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your qualification and experience:
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Only local applicants with minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, Logistics, Importation, vendor management (added advantage if in the Healthcare sector or direct dealing with hospital procurement units.)
  • You have strong analytical skills to perform analyses of the spend data, market research and understanding the requirements from the key stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive evaluation.
  • You have ability to perform check and balance by logic and link opportunities across analysed data independently
  • You have solid understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and sourcing strategies and negotiation skills.
  • You have proficiency in MS Office tools and reports & usage of Co-Pilot to support in data analysis activities.

  • You can communicate in English efficiently (written and oral)
  • You can work well with all levels and difficult personalities
  • Meticulous detail in preparing analysis to develop accurate overview for commodity independently
  • You must be technically apt in reaching out to as many sourcing platforms to consider and introduce new suppliers.
  • You must be aware of the basic principles in correct and complaint purchasing to detect and prevent non compliances and support to advise the business.
  • Apt in managing the entire supplier management cycle (evaluation, monitoring, development, phase out).
  • Socially apt in approaching stakeholders, suppliers or Cross functional teams to obtain information required.
  • Diligent in working out the start-to-finish process and regular follow-ups are to be managed promptly.
  • Independent analysis of spend trends and applying logic to check and balance report to ensure accurate findings are presented.
