Then come and join our Malaysia team as GL Accountant and you will be a team member within SHS Accounting & Controlling organization, responsible primarily for the financial closing & reporting of the assigned SHS Varian entities that owned by Hub Asia Pacific Japan (APJ).

Your Role:

  • You are responsible to perform the monthly, quarterly, annual closing and reporting activities in compliance with IFRS and local accounting standards.
  • You are responsible to drive for timely & high-quality closing & reporting by partnering with work partners e.g. teams of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue and Costing, local controllers (Head of Accounting), Payroll, FP&A and Finance Business Partner, and business.
  • You are responsible to handle intercompany billings and reconciliations following SHS intercompany accounting process and timeline (i.e. the “ICC” process). 
  • You are responsible for the fixed assets accounting: guide business users for the end to end process; maintain and ensure the accuracy & timeliness of the FA registers; support HoA and business for the periodic FA stocktaking. 
  • You act as a key postmortem accounting control, perform account reconciliations as assigned, proactively identify and resolve discrepancies and issues. You are responsible to utilize market intelligence to drive laboratory automation adoption, expand instrument footprints, and accelerate business growth.
  • You are responsible to support external statutory audits by preparing PBC documents as requested and providing necessary explanations; and assist in internal audits as needed. 
  • You are responsible to collaborate with regional Finance BP teams to support local business needs from an accounting perspective. 
  • You are responsible to identify the opportunities & participate in the efforts of continuous process improvement that aim for higher operation efficiency & productivity, and better controls and quality.
  • You are responsible to engage in local and global projects as assigned by the management team.

Your qualification and experience:

  • You have hands-on experience in SAP ERP.
  • You have hands-on experience in month end closing; experience with multi-national companies preferred.
  • You have practical experience in applying accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP, or local) 
  • You have solid internal control knowledge and practice experience.
  • You are proficient in general MS Office tools.
  • You have strong ability to work under pressure, strong team player; open-minded, and self-motivated.
  • You have effective and efficient communication, especially cross-functional.
  • You have a degree in accounting and/or Finance with 5-8 years in relevant functions.
  • You have accounting knowledge, solid understanding of IFRS, US GAAP and local accounting standards were applied.
