Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Strategic Procurement Specialist who will drive localization initiatives for local and global supplies by evaluating and developing the Indian supplier base. This role focuses on scouting potential suppliers, conducting costing evaluations and should-costing analyses, and aligning with global commodity managers to ensure cost-effective, compliant sourcing solutions that meet international medical standards. The goal is to reduce dependency on imports, optimize costs, and support global supply chain resilience.


Key Responsibilities:

·       Supplier Scouting and Qualification:

    • Identify and scout Indian suppliers in the medical sector (e.g., Sheet Metal, Machined Parts, Electromechanical Assemblies, Castings, Plastic Parts, Cable Assemblies, Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), HMI Applications, etc.) through market research, industry databases, trade shows, and networks.
    • Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, and risk evaluations to ensure compliance with global quality, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
    • Build a robust database of qualified local suppliers categorized by commodities.
  • Costing Evaluation and Should-Costing:
    • Understanding of manufacturing processes to enable evaluate supplier cost sheets with open book policy
    • Perform detailed costing analysis of supplier quotes, including material, labor, overheads, and profit margins.
    • Develop should-cost models using costing tools or Excel-based breakdowns to benchmark fair pricing and identify savings opportunities.
    • Negotiate with suppliers to align actual costs with should-cost targets
  • Alignment with Global Teams:
    • Collaborate with global commodity managers to align localization strategies with international specifications, volumes, and timelines.
    • Prepare and present business cases, including TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analyses, for transitioning to Indian suppliers.
    • Facilitate cross-functional reviews involving R&D, quality, engineering, and process planning teams for supplier approvals.
    • Support localization roadmap development, tracking progress against targets (e.g., % localization by commodity).
  • Project Management and Execution:
    • Lead localization projects from scouting to trial runs, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and full-scale production ramp-up.
    • Monitor supplier performance KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, defect rates, cost variance) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
    • Generate monthly reports on scouting pipeline, cost savings achieved, and localization maturity.
    • Use data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) to visualize supplier performance and opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial) from an accredited university
  • 5-8 years of experience in Strategic procurement / Sourcing / Vendor development within manufacturing ideally in medical devices.
  • Proven experience in supplier scouting, negotiation, and cost analysis in India.
  • Hands-on expertise in should-costing methodologies and tools
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and procurement tools.
  • Multilingual capabilities and experience working in global/multicultural environments.
