Facilities Project Engineer 
 
Role:

The role of the facilities project engineer is to carry out projects to support both ongoing maintenance and improvements to the operations of hard and soft facility services at Magnet Technologies facilities (Predominantly Bicester but also Eynsham when needed). The role covers hard and soft service provision so can involve both physical changes and changes to service delivery or a combination of both.  The role covers production areas, offices and support zones.
The core facilities project works are delivered through external contractors, either through specific orders for a set specification or through ongoing long term service provision contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise contractors delivering facilities projects to ensure all works are carried out to health and safety beat practice guidelines.
  • Ensure the delivery of all facilities projects comply with the requirements of CDM 15.
  • Work with stake holders across the business to identify and scope potential facilities projects, develop those projects with the stake holders to the decision point.
  • Prepare justifications to progress new facility projects through the investment approvals process, then track the project for timing, quality and cost. 
  • The facilities engineer will take responsibility for a number of concurrent projects from concept through to completion.  Including developing the initial concepts, generating the specification, placing the orders, controlling the contractors on site and finally accepting the works.
  • Projects can cover a wide range of facilities areas and systems, including small building works, heating and cooling systems, fire systems, security systems and utilities electricity, compressed air and water.
  • Work with the soft service suppliers as required to develop and improve their provision of services covering cleaning, waste, security and catering.
  • The facilities engineer may be required to co-ordinate with major project teams (Bicester facility team) to promote consistency of approach across existing and new facilities. Ensure operational issues are considered, such as integration with building management system (BMS) reliability, serviceability and whole life costs.

Requirements for the role
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or building services discipline.
  • Experience running multiple projects with a range of scales and durations.
  • Experience maintaining and improving a wide range of buildings and utility systems.  Knowledge of some of these systems would be expected, minor building works, general modifications to production and office environments, heating and cooling systems, electrical systems, pressurized gas systems, security systems and water systems.
  • Ability to liaise with aa wide range of stakeholders to identify project requirements and to negotiate the project delivery.
  • Proven experience of managing all aspects of the contractor control including onsite ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Good working knowledge of CDM 15 (Construction Design Management)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for the development of 2D layouts.
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to clearly present projects across all level of the organisation.
