The business has been awarded several Queen’s Awards for export success, two Best Factory Awards and an IMechE Manufacturing Excellence Award and is justifiably proud of its engineering and manufacturing heritage.  As a result of internal movement we are now seeking an experienced manufacturing supervisor/manager to join our team in Eynsham as a Cell Leader, working on a weekly rotating shift pattern (early Mon-Thurs 06:00-14:30 with a 13:30 finish on the Friday, late Mon-Thurs 14:00 to 22:30, Fri 13:30 to 18:30).

In this role you'll lead a highly flexible manufacturing Team to world class standards to Maximize business performance, taking responsibility for day-to-day operational activities to ensure the business strategy and associated goals and targets at a local level are achieved, and responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the team’s performance. You’ll act as first point of contact for issues and seek resolution by using the skills and resources of the team to minimize the need for escalation. Working with support functions, you’ll lead a flexible workforce to implement production schedules, methods and processes, allocate manpower and resources, identify problems and provide solutions and improvements in your respective process. You will be a role model to the team promoting continuous improvement and lean methodology and adopting the Siemens Healthineers Business Principles.  This role will be ideally suited to someone with previous experience in a Shift Manager type role in a complex manufacturing environment, with more emphasis on hands on, manual build process with longer build times and a focus on quality.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver product on time to the right quality and cost. 
  • Provide clear direction and act as Inspirational Leader and coach to the manufacturing Stream/Team or Cell.
  • To comply with, and support the Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures. 
  • To investigate any EHS incidents professionally to the required standard. Implement schedules and plans, allocate manpower and resources through MT flex policy to ensure all manufacturing activities are resourced and managed appropriately including the introduction of new products and processes. 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through the analysis of the current operational performance using the relevant Key Performance Indicators owned by you and your Team, such as Quality, Cost and Delivery measures. 
  • Capable Lean practitioner. Facilitating CI through Teamwork and the application of Lean Tools through team activity and the application of Healthineers Performance System (HPS)Maintain a high level of visual management and Teamwork, stepping into roles when necessary to support the business objectives. 
  • Motivate and continuously develop the team, seek out appropriate development opportunities for self and others through our People and Leadership Practices (PLP).
  • Defines others, personal and Team objectives, performance manage others through the application of our policies. 
  • Manage and develop the flexible skill levels within the Team required to deliver business objectives utilising the skills data and training provided Communication through regular shift meetings and departmental performance reviews. 
  • Identifies and proactively manages internal & external stakeholders such as Engineers, PLM, Quality and Suppliers collaborate closely with other SCM Teams to resolve issues, conflicts and maintain standards. 
  • Apply structured problem solving, present and justify ideas and decisions with logical arguments.

Skills and Experience:
  • You’ll have proven experience in a people management role in a manufacturing environment and be self-motivated and capable of motivating your team members to meet the Team and business objectives. 
  • Minimum of GCSE grade C or equivalent in English, Maths and Sciences required evidence of qualifications in Lean or Six Sigma application desirable. 
  • Strong Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, planning, analytical/problem solving skills are required. 
  • Able to understand and work with Materials/Inventory planning systems. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) required.
